We’re lucky to have the support of more than 200 talented volunteers who help us operate our used bookstores across Ottawa. FOPLA is over 99% volunteer-run by people who believe in the value of a strong public library in our community.

Am I A Good Fit?

If you would like to volunteer with FOPLA, there are a few starting points that we ask all our volunteers to have:

  • Courtesy and enthusiasm when interacting with bookstore customers and library staff

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Physical ability to move and lift boxes/carts of books (unless otherwise specified)

  • Proficiency in English, all other languages are an asset

  • Knowledge and love of books

  • All volunteers must have access to email for communication
