October is Library Month and FOPLA is proud to support Ottawa Public Library’s awareness campaign this year to encourage more people to take advantage of this excellent library and sign up for a Library card and all the benefits it brings. We’re always excited about working together to promote OPL’s work to advance literacy of all kinds: digital literacy, civic literacy, food literacy, music literacy. Since 2003, FOPLA has given more than $4 million to the Ottawa Public Library for programs, equipment and services not funded by Ottawa’s municipal budget.

This year’s theme for Library Month at OPL is friendship and more specifically: “Bring a friend to the Library, bring the Library to a friend.” To celebrate this occasion, we donated cool and handy USB friendship bracelets that will be distributed to every new customer who sign up for an OPL Library card this month and to the friend who referred them (while quantities last).

If you are looking for another way to support OPL, why not visit KINDREADS.COM, our first digital brand and storefront. There, you can browse and buy used books in great condition, while also supporting our beloved public libraries. Our volunteers sort through up to 10,000 book donations each week, and only the best and most recent titles make it to our growing online inventory. Have a look and spread the word!

Happy reading!
